HISTORY

IACK was founded in the United Kingdom by the Orders of Catholic Knights from Britain, the United States, Ireland, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. It was approved by the Holy See in 1981 as a Catholic International Organisation, and is an associate member of the Conference of International Catholic Organisations. As an NGO, it is represented at the United Nations. On 14 April 1992, the Pontifical Council for the Laity issued a decree recognising the International Alliance of Catholic Knights as an international association of the faithful of Pontifical Right.

IDENTITY

The purpose of IACK is to bring the message of Christ to all people; to support the Pope and the bishops, priests and religious throughout the world; to nurture the faith of its members and of Catholics in general, encouraging them to play a generous part in the life and mission of the Church; to foster the unity of its members through prayer, and to promote the establishment of Orders of Catholic Knights where they do not yet exist. It is strongly committed to defending the dignity of life in every phase, promoting social justice, and calling for vigilance in relation to genetic engineering, cloning and their unpredictable consequences. In its evangelising work, IACK gives ample scope to cooperating with other Catholic International Organisations.

ORGANISATION

IACK is governed by the International Council comprising the Supreme Knights of all the member Orders, International President, the Deputy President, the Secretary General and the International Ecclesiastical Assistant. The International Council elects its officers and lays down policy and decides on the association’s  activities.

MEMBERSHIP

IACK has a membership of 15 Orders of Catholic Knights in 20 countries in the following continents: Africa (7), Asia (3), Europe (4), North America (4), and Oceania (2).
