On Sunday 22 April 2012, Cardinal Rylko, president of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, presided at the Mass celebrating the 44th anniversary of the founding of the Sant’Egidio Community. It took place at Our Lady’s Cathedral in Antwerp in Belgium. The congregation filled the cathedral, and in his homily, Cardinal Rylko told them that “every aspect of an ecclesial movement’s life and all its missionary and educational force come from its charism. There is only one rule that can ensure that a charism remains alive and dynamic, and that is to live it out with joy and enthusiasm”.
