On Wednesday 9 November 2011 at the Pontifical Council for the Laity offices, Cardinal Stanisław Ryłko met with several members of the advisory committee of Together for Europe.
This will be the third international meeting of its kind. It is scheduled to take place on 12 May 2012 in Brussels. Simultaneously, in other European cities, linked-up events will be held that will inform the political and social spheres about the commitment and efforts of ecclesial movements and communities in working towards European solidarity.
Those present at the meeting at the Pontifical Council for the Laity offices were leaders of the Focolare Movement, Sant’Egidio Community, Schönstatt Apostolic Movement and Fondacio Christians for the World. Two representatives of the YMCA in Munich came in representation of the Evangelical Church.
The president of the PCL was informed about the history of Together for Europe (the first meeting was in 2004 and the second in 2007, both held in Stuttgart), and about the initiatives and activities being planned for next year’s event. The cardinal gave his encouragement saying that it was a timely event to help Europe find its soul. It will lead us into the “Year of Faith” (October 2012 to November 2013) that was recently announced by Pope Benedict XVI.
