From February 4 to 8, 2013, the XXIIth “Course for Bishops” took place in Rio de Janeiro, organized by the same Archdiocese.
This meeting started on 1990 on the initiative of the then archbishop of Rio, Msgr Eugenio Araujo Sales. All Brazilian Bishops are invited to participate in it.
On its first edition one of the main speakers was the then Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, His Eminence Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who participated then more than once.
Themes for this current year course were liturgy, and the laity 50 years after the Second Vatican Council. More than a hundred Brazilian bishops came from all over the country.
The main lectures were addressed by card. Ryłko and card. Cañizares, by Msgr Staglianò, bishop of Noto (Italy) and by Ms Ana Cristina Villa Betancourt, responsible of Women’s Section of the Pontifical Council for the Laity.
Texts by card. Ryłko on laity  (ITA - POR) and ecclesial movements (ITA - POR) and by Ms Ana Cristina Villa Betancourt on women  (SPA  - POR) are available on the website.
