Vatican City, 29 July 2011 - Today at the Holy See Press Office, the Pontifical Council for the Laity John Paul II Youth Foundation presented the iGPII application for iPhone, iPod, iPad and iOS devices which was created with the Madrid World Youth Day in mind.

The Foundation, which is committed to helping, promoting and sustaining World Youth Day, conceived the idea and had it developed by Futurtech & ADV Production. The application can be downloaded from Apple Store and is available in five languages – English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. It will give detailed up-to-date information which will help people to get the most out of the event. The contents and utilities will help young people to move around Madrid, and to receive all the information available about the programme, logistics and venues of World Youth Day. The information will be updated via wireless points that will be set up at the meeting venues. This application will also be useful for those who wish to take part in the Italian Eucharistic Congress to be held in Ancona from 3 to 11 September. It can be ordered from Apple Store and can be downloaded from 1 August at a cost of 3.99 euro. The information about the initiative at the press conference was presented by Marcello Bedeschi, president of the John Paul II Youth Foundation, the engineer Iacopo Barberini and by Giovanni Leone, administrator delegate of Futurtech.
